Bio: Jeff is passionate about helping people find their way back to God. He is highly relational and connects with people who are far from God. After being completely broken through his first church planting adventure, God set him back on his feet and led he and his wife Christy to plant My Church in Columbus, GA. They launched in January 2009 with an unexpected 625 people outside in a tent! In their first 3 months, over 130 people accepted Christ, an average of 550 continued attending weekly, with a record 800 on their 12th Sunday (Easter). Besides hitting the streets and meeting every person he possibly could around town, Jeff credits quality mass mailing, facebook and word of mouth marketing for attracting newcomers.
Three other things he’d absolutely do again are…
1. A pre-launch community service project (the local news ran their Bikes or Bust story 13 times)
2. Move into an apartment (everyone’s in transition and no one has a church)
3. Make Starbucks your office (get out of your house as much as possible). When planters ask Jeff for advice, he says–”Go out and risk everything. When you fall down, get up and let God’s power be made perfect in your weakness.”
